“At the Pentagon, security was already heightened because of the anniversary. A mobile surface-to-air missile launcher — part of an exercise announced Monday — was parked several hundred yards from the Pentagon Tuesday morning.”

In some sense, I’m glad that the nation is on alert in the case of some contingency. As I was just discussing with Jen, however, it is so unlikley that any terrorist would try something on the anniversary of 9/11. There are sleepers with malintent that have been living in the US for the past 20 years, and I’m sure they would prefer to pick a random day where no one is prepared….just like the last time.

The news coverage regarding this anniversary is enough to make you nauseous. The commemorative issues of the magazines, the constant update on every tidbit of the investigation, the complete paranoia. I am surprised that there isn’t a goddamn soundtrack album out yet.

I’m thinking that some of us might want to quietly remember and reflect. Some of us had a pretty miserable time a year ago and cannot believe its been an entire year since. Some of us want to thank God we are alive and make sure this crap doesn’t happen again, rather than mint commemorative coins and make t-shirts. Then again, maybe its just me.
