Crazy weekend. Here’s a quick recap.
Thursday night, Jen and I headed into the city to check out the Foo Fighters at the Hammerstein. Crappy venue, but great show. High energy and great tunes. Apparently, the night before, they played all the big hits. For our show they played all the great album cuts that they never play live; as Dave Grohl put it, “Last night, they got the Greatest Hits. Tonight you get the Boxed Set, baby!” In other news, I was served what was probably the worst Gin and Tonic I have ever had at that show.
On Friday, we did a little afternoon relaxation with Margaritas, chips and salsa in the AC and then made our way down to Red Bank for a little 4th of July celebration with Stacy at her new beau’s house. It was definitely a great event complete with rosemary grilled shrimp, homemade chips and pico de gallo and chocolate covered strawberries. Some old friends, some new friends, and overall a great time. To top it all off, Jen drove home. 🙂
Yesterday, I headed back to the fam’s house to swim in the pool and lay out on the deck. I miss that. I then proceeded to purchase a new air conditioner to make my apartment a little more comfortable. By the evening, the new AC was installed, and Jen and I made our way into the city to see Jets to Brazil at the Bowery Ballroom. Now, this is the first time that I have been able to see these guys live, so I was in my glory. We even managed to get one of those little tables on the balcony overlooking the stage. Great stuff. Among the tunes that they played were “The Frequency”, “In the Summer’s When You Really Know”, “Your X-Rays Have Just Come Back From The Lab…” (my personal favorite), “Orange Rhyming Dictionary”, “Chinatown”, “Lemon Yellow Black” and finally finished up with “Sea Anemone” and an encore of “Rocket Boy”. I missed a few in there, but its a bit hazy right now. Overall….Good times!
Now, I’m enjoyin my ice coffee and debating hitting the gym to work off some of this funk. Then maybe i’ll do a little reading studying later. Nine days until my birthday!
