Here’s the weekend recap. Friday night, I kicked back with a bottle of wine and some of the new DVD’s I received for the holidays. I have to say it was one of the nicer nights that I’ve had at home in some time. I managed to wake up early on Saturday, have a nice breakfast, and do the gym and shopping thing all day.
Last night Dave, Virginia, Mark and myself headed over to Luna Lounge after we learned that the Moldy Peaches had sold out the Bowery Ballroom. Shortly after arriving and imbibing a couple cocktails, Jeanine Garofolo showed up and Mark, Dave and I decided to figure out how to say hi to her and come out of it with the most memorable story. In the end, we decided that Mark telling her that The Matchmaker was not a good career move was probably not the best thing to do. We got very silly throughout the night, and on the way out I finally worked up the courage to nudge Ms. Garofolo’s arm and introduce myself. She was actually really nice and friendly, but somehow all I was able to spit out was something along the lines of “You rock. I’m a big fan.”
After Luna Lounge, we headed to Katz’s Deli where we engaged in late night corned beef sandwiches and knishes with mustard and sauerkraut. Oh my god. It has been far too long since I have eaten there. Ms. Garofolo and her crew actually also showed up to eat there a few minutes after us…..for your information. Even though the deli should have spelled the end of the evening, we headed back over to Max Fish where we had a beer or two and played a couple games of pinball. After that, all I remember was an agonizing trip home….first a mega-long wait for the Path, then falling asleep in Dave’s car and finally arriving in Bayonne. I was out in moments.
I am trying to pull it all together right now. I’m listening to the first Dylan album where he does all the old nectar blues tunes like “In My Time of Dying”, “Man of Constant Sorrow” and “House of the Rising Sun”. So great. I’m also reading the TIme story of how Andersen’s lawyer actually issued a memo telling the employees to destroy Enron related communications and working papers. Not so great. I think that after one more cup of coffee I will be right as rain. Later I have to head back to our nation’s capital. Where do my weekends go?
