Holy smokes…..Jen and I went to see R.E.M. at MSG last night, and hooooodaddy, was it good. We missed the opener, Sparklehorse, but were just in time for the main event. Although I can’t remember the exact order, their setlist was unreal: Finest Worksong, What’s the Frequency Kenneth?, Driver 8, Animal, The One I Love, Rockville, Fall On Me, World Leader Pretend, Gardening At Night, Bad Day, Great Beyond, Hope, Walk Unafraid, Drive, Daysleeper, Final Straw, Find the River, Losing My Religion, Imitation Of Life, Man on The Moon, Nightswimming, End of the World. The music was just unreal….especially peter buck’s guitar solo during Hope. It was definitely one of the more bizarre concert environments that we had seen in some time though, as there was a guy that was so pissed at these kids dancing in front of him that he insisted he sit in their seats so he could see (leaving his wife sitting by herself behind him). There was also a Drew Carey look-alike dancing his ass off and headbanging with a buddy that was a dead ringer for Saddam Hussein. Then there were the three people behind us who sat and talked on their cell-phones screaming to carry on a conversation for the duration of the show. Weird stuff, man.
Anyway…today, I got alot of cleaning done, did yoga, relaxed and cooked a mean lamb stew before the sun went down. Now its time to atone.
