Last night I was watching the CNN special (Dying to Tell the Story) on Dan Eldon. He was the 22 year old photographer from Reuters who alerted the world to the situation in Somalia through his pictures, and who also died there at the hands of an angry mob. At one point, they were displaying pictures from his journals, and they focused on one particular photo of two starving Somali children upon which he wrote, “What am I doing with my life and why?” I think that sentiment reflects what I have been feeling for the past few months. What is the purpose of living in a land of privilege if we are not going to do something worthwhile? I need to find my purpose and make it so.
