Possibly the greatest weekend of my life….
Got back from New Orleans and Jazzfest last night. Already, I want to go back. I’m thinking of even getting a job down there so I can just be there all the time. It is absolutely the greatest city ever.
Here’s a quick recap: I got the First Class upgrade on the flight down on the nectar 777 (with the personal entertainment center and fully horizontal reclining seat) while killah dave got stuck in steerage with the rest of the peasants. Arriving in New Orleans, we quickly made our way to our nectar hotel in the Quarter, and received the upgrade to an executive suite. We rolled out to the festival to the day where i gorged myself with softshell po-boys, crawfish sacks, and jumbalaya while watching Lucinda Williams, Keb Mo, Widespread Panic and a host of other mean bands. After a nectar grilled redfish dinner, we hit the Howlin’ Wolf to see Charlie Hunter, and followed him up with a great night down on Bourbon Street. Friday included more great music, fried oyster po-boys, and at night, a sick Crawish Boil over at the Maison Perrier where schwartz and kessler shacked up. That was absolutely one of the best times ever, and it was followed up with a full night of frolicking down on Bourbon Street and a late night hot tub session 🙂 Saturday, we fully rocked out with an initial stop at Igor’s and then at the day’s shows that included Elvin Jones, Walter Wolfman, Irvin Mayfield, a couple of DMB tunes, and more. The night brought us out for a mean dinner in the Quarter down on Decatur (as slerm would pronounce deck-a-door), and then over to the Saenger theater for Galactic where they dropped the funk bomb on us. As if that was not enough, we rolled into the Fess Head party with George Porter latenight and rocked out until the early morning. Sunday, needless to say, I was a waste.
On that note…..its time to go to bed. More stories tomorrow.
