So, last night I again had one of the best dates ever. These are getting just way too frequent lately…. Jen and I checked out a place in Alexandria called the Evening Star Cafe…It was amazing. American comfort food…cool decor….great background music. We had these jumbo fried shrimp with chipotle drizzle and guacamole, quail stuffed with feta cheese and mushrooms, and then for entrees a crazy beef tenderloin with amazing mashed potatoes and grouper with gnocchi and capers. All of that washed down with some nectar Foris Pinot Noir. We even split a really good creme brulee afterwards. Delicious.
Afterwards we rolled over to this new hotel bar called Rouge with some of Jen’s roommates and their friends. The place is very very cool. Wild decor…everything red (obviously)…and these wierd little drink stands. To boot, they had some super strong drinks, including one that was like a Mojito made with bourbon. Wild.
Overall, last night was just the perfect blend of company, conversation, good food and drink. Today has just been great. Tonight, we are going to check out this restaurant called the Lebanese Taverna up in Northwest and then head over to this musical show about Puerto Rico called Borinquen Preciosa. Should be a blast….
