Taking part in a conference call/presentation by Charles Ditzel of Sun Microsystems regarding J2EE right now. I found it rather humorous that Sun’s Java tagline has gone from “Write Once, Run Anywhere” to “Write Once, Run Almost Anywhere”. I guess they’ve decided to hedge themselves a little bit. In my experience, Java is so damn slow, its like “Write Once, Run Sometime Later”. Judging from the presentation, it seems like they are still alot of smart dudes talking about concepts that aren’t quite working as well as they need to in the commercial space. And they are talking very slowly….very…..slowly. I hope they move onto the next presenter soon; this guy is making me want to go listen to the construction outside.
