Launching a newsletter

For some time, I’ve been toying with the idea of a newsletter, for a couple of reasons.  First, I often have folks tell me they enjoy my shares, and think it could be a way to really effectively put my time into curating things I really like for my audience. Second, I personally have found that most of my own reading time is spent on reading curated newsletters.

Tools for jazzing up the blog

Well…just when I thought I had figured it out, I’m again confused about what tools I should use to jazz up my blog. I’m almost there though. One cool thing that happened recently is that Google has purchased Blogger….so, it looks like they will finally have the money to support the service like it should. Woohoo!

Debating what to do with this site

So, I am still debating what to do with this site. Continue with the mods I was making to my template here or change the whole thing to a new system altogether. If I do that, chances are, I would have to go to another host altogether. I was thinking of Movable Type but my host doesn’t support the Unix tools that you need for that like mySQL and Perl and whatnot. Anywho.

I just finished my homework for class. Alot of the first couple weeks subjects dealt with encryption, and the logic and mathematics behind it. Very interesting, but also confusing to someone who hasn’t looked at that sort of thing for years. It gets even harder when the class is given online and only four of nineteen people even speak up to participate. I’m trying though. I also voiced my opinion on some things that were bothering me about the format of the course with the Prof. Perhaps it was a bad move, but I don’t think so. I would rather be vocal now and keep plugging away then to say something later and have them tell me that I should have spoken up earlier on. Dig? I thought so.

Had a great Valentines Day with Jen last night. She got off work late, so I had flowers and wine and cannoli cake waiting when she came over. She loved her gifts and was totally surprised, I might add. I got great stuff as well, including a Pablo Neruda book, “Chasing Amy” on DVD, and a hand-painted candle holder made by Jen. All in all, a fabulous night. I’ve got a few hours before I have to roll out to Mojave Grill for dinner, so I think I will do a bit more work on the bathroom. Laters.
